Cannabis for beginners -- lets get you started

If you're new to cannabis, or just want to learn more about it, we've got you covered!

Cannabis has seen popularity grow in recent years, with more and more people considering it as an alternative to alcohol and other drugs. But- let's address the elephant in the room. First-timers may feel intimidated by cannabis. It's okay to feel that way, and that's why we're here to help! We are a resource and community that promotes the safe use of cannabis, we have all the information you could possibly need, whether you're new or not.

Below are some ideas for those being introduced to the plant for the first time, or even someone seeking to be more comfortable consuming it!

  • Try it at an intimate gathering, with a close circle of friends or at an event with a host who is well-versed in the Cannabis world. Here are some good questions to ask someone who is knowledgeable about the plant; 1. What terpenes does this have (terpenes are the compounds responsible for the way most plants smell). Always ask to smell the strain you are about to engage with2. Is it indoor or outdoor grown? 3. If it's edible what is the ratio and or mg? 4. Do you know the THC level? 5. When you smoked this, how did it make you feel?

  • Micro dose edibles, infused food, and beverages- for example cannabis coffee, teas, familiar drinks. Microdosing means taking very small doses of a substance. We always recommend starting with a lower level of THC and trying the plant somewhere you feel most comfortable, be it outdoors or indoors. Microdosing can also mean just taking just two pulls a day out of a joint or even every other day, eating a quarter of an edible instead of half and taking a small spoonful of honey in your tea.

  • Pens could also be a good introduction; you can have it on hand and take a small hit whenever comfortable. There are a variety of pens and strains available- Indica, Sativa and Hybrid options. Indica strains have more of a relaxing effect, where Sativa gives a more euphoric feeling. Hybrid strains contain both Sativa and Indica (50/50), which is usually the safer option for a beginner.
